Originally from Toronto, Michela has been playing the tuba for over ten years. She reluctantly picked up the tuba at the age of 13, and she quickly came to love the instrument and has since achieved great success.  After completing a Bachelor of Music degree at Mount Allison University in Sackville NB, she moved to Newfoundland to pursue graduate studies. She completed her Master of Music in Tuba Performance and Pedagogy in 2013.

Her performance experience is quite varied, having played with numerous ensembles including the Royal Canadian Artillery Band, the Band of the Ceremonial Guard, the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and others. As a soloist, she has performed several recitals and was the winner of the 2013 Concerto Competition at Memorial University in the Wind Ensemble division.  She also has a great interest in chamber music. Highlights include playing the national anthem at an IceCaps hockey game with the Tugboat Tuba Quartet and a tour to Labrador with the Apollo 5 Brass Quintet.

Michela enjoys teaching privately, and has a growing studio of tuba, euphonium, and baritone students.
